10' x 12' of stored stuff

And so it begins.....everything we own, in 10' x 12', with only a few exceptions, items that our good friends were willing to use while we are away.

Here we go again!  I realize that some of you are very aware of our upcoming, and already beginning, travel plans?  We are off again, to explore the world and attempt to learn more Spanish, this time in Costa Rica, with one less backpack than we have traveled with in the past, with a three year old who is excited to explore with us, and a tiny bebe in utero!  This is certainly not the path of least resistance, but we know that we have to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves, as this has!

We spent the last year hoping to buy land with the dream of building our own small house...and sold our house in town with these dreams in mind.  When land fell through our fingers time and again, we were at first crushed, and then began to realize that we had a sort of opportunity that might be a long time in coming again.....no mortgage!  So we have changed our path, for the time being, put everything we own into storage space and are hitting the road and the air, to spend a part, or maybe all, of the winter, in Costa Rica!  Amazingly, everything fit and is even pretty well organized!

Our plans are a bit undecided and flexible from here on out.  We are currently in North Carolina, spending Thanksgiving with the Baker family.  From here, we head north! to Maine, to visit my brother and his girlfriend, and our good friend, Bits, and then on to Boston to visit my great uncle and explore the city a little.  November 29th we will fly to San Jose and then spend the month of December in a small house on the Pacific in a tiny town called Cabuya.

From there we are planning to head inland to Turrialba, where we hope to study and speak Spanish as much as possible.  Aven will go to a local preschool while Corey and I study at a local language school....and from here we will decide if we want to come home to Helena, find a place to rent, and have this bebe in Montana, or to stay in Costa Rica, and have a bebe born with duel citizenship, meaning we would return to Helena in May!?  At this point, we are open to either plan and excited to be traveling with only what we can carry on our backs for the time being.

We were really lucky to have a couple good snow falls before leaving Montana, even two feet of fresh snow in one storm, allowing us all a taste of skiing and sledding- and making it hard to know that we would be missing most of the Montana winter that we love. We look forward to hearing from all of you along the way, send love and the hope that you can all have dreams that become a reality as this dream is for us!
